Professional: I was appointed to a substantive post of Consultant in Pain Management and Anaesthetics at City Hospitals Sunderland in 2005. My current workload in NHS amounts to an average of 300 new patient consultations and 600 follow ups per year.
I also have one injection list every week that allows me to carry out specialised injection procedures under ultrasound, fluoroscopy (x-rays) or nerve stimulator guidance. I regularly audit my clinical practice through anonymised patient feedback, satisfaction surveys and clinical outcome measures. I believe in an individualised approach to patients with chronic pain. Pain affects every person differently and requires assessment with patience. I am happy to offer this, allowing a generous one hour consultation for the first visit. Treatment options may include a combination of strategies under the medical domain (medication & injections), physiotherapy (including acupuncture) and psychology. Personal: I am a family man with two teenaged sons and a dog (labradoodle). Nothing relaxes me more than a walk on the Roker beach with my dog, Oscar. My favourite hobby is woodturning. You are welcome to browse my completed projects on my woodturning website. I also enjoy gardening and cycling, weather permitting in the Northeast of England. |
